At Mustard Seed Baby, we believe that Moms are heroes. God knew what he was doing when he made a mother’s heart and gave them precious babies to protect, love and nurture. With all the pressure to make sure we’re doing things right, we sometimes forget to recognize we’re doing all we can.
So, this is for you, mamas, a reminder today that you’re not in this alone. That there’s a multitude of moms behind you, fighting the same kinds of battles, wiping the same kinds of tears, with the same mission to raise kind and thoughtful human beings.
Each month, we recognize a special “Mustard Seed Mom”, getting a little glimpse into her journey of motherhood. If you’d like to be a Mustard Seed Mom and share your story or know someone you think should be honored, send us a message!
XOXO,

TELL US ABOUT THE WAY YOU FELT, THE FIRST TIME YOU HELD YOUR BABY
Our daughter came through the front door like the stork himself was dropping her off. When the social worker put her in my arms for the first time I was overwhelmed. For the first time, I heard my daughters coos, I smelled her baby scent and felt her smooth skin and looked into her blue eyes. This perfect tiny little human was my daughter and I was her momma.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE DAILY NIGHT PRAYER WITH THE LITTLE ONES?
Our nightly prayers include prayers of gratitude for our daughters biological parents. Prayers for protection and health over our daughter as she continues to grow. And prayers that God’s perfect will would be done regarding us becoming her forever home.
WHAT DO YOU WORRY ABOUT THE MOST IN REGARD TO YOUR LITTLE ONES FUTURE?
I worry that our daughter will face harsh and insensitive comments about her being adopted.
IF YOU COULD GIVE A NEW MOM ONE TIP, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Motherhood is like riding a bike. No one knows what they are doing at first. It takes time, patience, commitment and persistence to learn how to ride. In your own time, in your own way, you will learn and you will only grow stronger and stronger each day.
HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR CHILD'S NEEDS WITH YOUR OWN?
I am blessed to have a husband who is an active co-parent. Balancing my child’s needs with my own needs comes through my ability to ask for help and admit when I need time to reset.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PARENTING STYLE?
Evolving haha but honestly, I like to think my parenting style is a combination of authoritative and sensitive.
TELL US THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF BEING A MOM
In my experience, the most challenging part of being a mother is how out-of-control I truly am. I will never be able to control every outcome or foresee every obstacle my child will face. I will want to protect them from every evil and every harmful experience, but I can’t. And I am learning that, that is okay.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE PARENTING BOOK YOU WOULD RECOMMEND?
What to expect the first year by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel
WHAT “STYLE” BEST DESCRIBES YOUR BABIES NURSERY?
Airy, bright, floral
FAVORITE MUSTARD SEED BABY ONESIE DESIGN AND WHY?
“Ill tell my own story” lilac onesie. When I saw this, I knew it was the perfect onsie for my daughter. As an adopted child, there are going to be a lot of people who are going to assume what her story was or is, but I want her to feel brave enough to tell her own story, when she is ready.
