At Mustard Seed Baby, we believe that Moms are heroes. God knew what he was doing when he made a mother’s heart and gave them precious babies to protect, love and nurture. With all the pressure to make sure we’re doing things right, we sometimes forget to recognize we’re doing all we can.
So, this is for you, mamas, a reminder today that you’re not in this alone. That there’s a multitude of moms behind you, fighting the same kinds of battles, wiping the same kinds of tears, with the same mission to raise kind and thoughtful human beings.
Each month, we recognize a special “Mustard Seed Mom”, getting a little glimpse into her journey of motherhood. If you’d like to be a Mustard Seed Mom and share your story or know someone you think should be honored, send us a message!
Mustard Seed Baby
My little ones: Camden, 7 month old boy
TELL US ABOUT THE WAY YOU FELT, THE FIRST TIME YOU HELD YOUR BABY.
It was the most incredible feeling. I felt pure joy and happiness. I was completely overcome with emotion and felt so incredibly thankful to God for the most perfect gift in the world.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE DAILY NIGHT PRAYER WITH THE LITTLE ONES?
We thank God for our family, our health and our happiness.
WHAT DO YOU WORRY ABOUT THE MOST IN REGARD TO YOUR LITTLE ONES FUTURE?
The world is a scary place, so I worry every day about his safety and well-being. I pray every day that God protects him and watches over him as he grows.
IF YOU COULD GIVE A NEW MOM ONE TIP, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Enjoy every moment. Try not to be too hard on yourself. Every day you learn something new about your baby. Take help when it’s offered and try to sleep whenever you have a chance.
HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR CHILD'S NEEDS WITH YOUR OWN?
This is a very hard thing to do. It’s probably what I’ve struggled with the most. Carve out a little “you” time each day whether it’s taking a shower or running to the store or taking a nap. You are the best mom you can be when you take care of yourself too.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PARENTING STYLE?
Hmm…probably overprotective. I’m learning each day and trying to be more laid back.
TELL US THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF BEING A MOM
So far, it’s been going back to work. It’s hard not being with him every day and that feeling I have of missing key milestones in his life. but, I have great babysitters (grandparents, family friends, etc.) who keep me up to speed daily and send me pictures & videos. I’m doing what’s best for our family and hopefully one day my son will appreciate that.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE PARENTING BOOK YOU WOULD RECOMMEND?
I read “What to expect when you’re expecting”. It helped me get somewhat prepared. However, you never really know what to expect until the baby is here.
WHAT “STYLE” BEST DESCRIBES YOUR BABIES NURSERY?
Modern, gray, simple, contemporary.
FAVORITE MUSTARD SEED BABY ONESIE DESIGN AND WHY?
Little warrior design. I have a little guy who is such a ball of energy. Always on the go and I feel like “little warrior” best describes him.
